She’s only 14, but Amy Meehan is taking on an old classic in a bid to win a lucrative prize in a Christmas song contest.
The Manorcunningham girl recorded her version of ‘Please come home for Christmas’, which was written by American blues singer and pianist Charles Brown and famously sung by The Eagles. Her video was selected by a global promotion company ‘Music Crowns’ to be in their #RealChristmasNo1.
Amy is now competing among 40 entries from all over the world on Facebook, where the video with the most views wins a £5,000 promotion package. Amy is one of the youngest entries.
She has reached 11,000 views in two days and needs many more clicks before December 21st. People can view and share the video as often as they like until that date.
“I always loved the Eagles and my Dad just recorded this one. I went ahead and entered the song to the competition and was chosen. I do other Christmas songs and a wide range as you can see on Youtube,” Amy says.
Amy has also competed on the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on TG4. She has performed at events across the country and has supported The Commitments star Bronagh Gallagher on her new album launches. She was also the winner of the Talent Northwest 2016 competition in the Millennium Forum in Derry.
Good luck Amy!
