Donegal makeup artist Clarabella Boyle shares a guide to a sultry and on-trend half-cut crease look.
I decided to start off the year with a cut crease look. I’ve seen it a few times on YouTube and Instagram and really wanted to put my own spin on it. I do a lot of special effects looks so it’s always a nice change to do beauty looks.
Face
I started off with ‘Porefessional’ by Benefit. For me, this primer really helps with the wear of my makeup and I love how my foundation sits over it.
I then applied Mac’s studio fix fluid in NC20 with a wet beauty blender and followed with Maybelline’s ‘The eraser eye’ concealer.
This is my go to concealer at the minute it’s so creamy and amazing for not creasing. I put this under my eyes and around my brow for extra definition.
Brows and contour
I then applied my brows with an angled brush. I used Anastasia Beverly hills dip brow pomade in ‘ebony’. This is my favourite brow product for a strong defined brow. I always take a clean spoolie and run it through the brow after so it looks more natural.
For contour I used New looks ‘Pure colour’ contour palette. This was my first time using this palette and I was surprised at how much I liked it. I used the first shade down my cheekbones, up the temples, around the head and along the jaw. I took the second shade over those areas to add more depth. I used the third shade to set my under-eye area.
Eyes
I then began on my eyes and started my base with Urban Decay’s eyeshadow primer potion in ‘Eden’. I then went in with Blank canvas’ ‘Master series palette one’ for my eyes. On the lid, I used the shades ‘Forza’ ‘carmin’ ‘downtown’ ‘cocoa’ ‘corruption’ and went in with ‘goddess’ for my inner corners. I used a concealer to draw out the cut crease and then set it with the ‘lily’ shade from the blank canvas palette. I have been loving this palette because it has all my favourite eyeshadow tones. They’re really pigmented and blend so well.
I used wet n wild’s liquid liner for my cat eye and used Bourjois ‘volume clubbing’ mascara. It’s one of my favourite mascaras because I have really fine lashes and it makes them so full looking and is good for not clumping. For mascara I can’t recommend Bourjois enough.
I finished this look with Kat Von D’s everlasting liquid lipstick in ‘bow n arrow’. This is definitely the best liquid lipstick I’ve tried. It applies evenly and dries softer than other liquid lipsticks. It doesn’t feel as annoying to wear as other ones I’ve tried and it’s the most beautiful nude shade.
That was everything I used for this look! I hope I’ve made it a bit easier for anyone who wants to recreate this look. If you would like to follow me on social media where I post my new looks my social media links are
