Teenage acting star Art Parkinson has been named as a new ambassador for Seachtain na Gaeilge 2017.
Movile native Art (15) is the youngest ever person to take on this ambassador role, and is one of the most famous to do so, Tuairisc.ie reports.
Art has been making waves in the entertainment world after appearing in Game of Thrones and now enjoying huge success with the critically-acclaimed animation Kubo and the Two Strings.
Art is a proud Gaeilgeoir, and will be promoting the Seachtain na Gaeilge festival from 1-17 March. Two other Irish representatives will be confirmed as ambassadors to champion the international language festival in the coming weeks, according to the paper.
Art has spoken out in the past about protecting the Irish language and was part of the campaign to keep his school Choláiste Chineál Eoghain in Buncrana open.
It looks like an exciting 2017 ahead for Art, after Kubo and the Two Strings was nominated for a Golden Globe last week. The movie has been picking up many prizes since its release, and there is much talk about a possible Oscar nomination for the film in the coming months.
