Snow, severe frost and thunderstorms have been forecast for the first weekend of February.
The first month of 2017 brought some of the mildest temperatures in a decade to Donegal, but temperatures are set to plummet this weekend as the weather takes a dramatic turn.
Today’s bright and sunny conditions will give way to a breezy evening before showers and cold conditions come to Donegal. Clear spells will bring lows of -1 to 3 degrees celsius with frost, ice and fog in places. Rain is also forecast and may fall as sleet and snow over high ground.
Saturday will have heavy showers in the northwest with cold breezes of 5-8 degrees. Saturday night may see a sharp to severe frost forming at temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees.
The cold continues on Sunday to bring possible hail showers among the heavy downpours.
Brollies and boots at the ready then so!
