The memory of well-respected Letterkenny Dr Maureen Bonar-Scally will be celebrated at her first anniversary mass on Saturday.
The first anniversary mass for the late Dr Maureen Bonar-Scally, Letterkenny, will take place this Saturday (March 11) at 10am in St Eunan’s Cathedral.
Dr. Bonar Scally, who passed away on March 15, 2016, at The Mater Private Hospital, Dublin, was one of the most respected GPs in Donegal and Ireland for over 60-years.
Her first-anniversary mass will recall many treasured memories of a revered, caring and professional doctor, loving mother, grandmother.
One local said at her wake she was like a ‘mother to the whole of Letterkenny’ in so many different ways.
Dr. Bonar Scally is laid to rest at Conwal Cemetery.
“We’re so proud and privileged to call her our mum and ‘Nana’ and we will still miss her sorely from our lives,” a family member said this week.
A native of Gortahork, Dr. Bonar Scally along with her late husband Dr Paddy Scally, co-founded the Scally practice in the early 50’s and together they provided care to generations of families in Letterkenny and many parts of north Donegal.
Their rich legacy for professional and compassionate care and support to patients continues through her daughter, Dr. Dara Scally along with Dr. James McDaid and Dr. Ciaran Roarty who recently joined the staff at Scally practice, Justice Walsh Road.
