Donegal girl Lucy Gillespie proved that she has a bright future in television after making her TV debut yesterday.
Lucy presented the weather in a perfectly choreographed routine on the prime slot of 6.55pm on TG4 on Wednesday evening.
The natural star was one of five winners selected from a Cula4 competition held during Seachtain an Gaeilge 2017. Children with a passion for the weather entered for the chance to present a forecast on air. Lucy was picked out from a large number of applicants and invited to the TG4 studios for a day of training and fun.
Lucy enjoyed a tour of the TV station and some mentoring from Donegal presenters Micheal Ó Ciaraidh and Caitlín Nic Aoidh before going in front of the camera – not before a glamourous session with the hair and makeup department!

With skills like that, Lucy could be joining weathergirls like Caitlín Nic Aoidh for regular slots in the future!

Speaking about the competition, TG4 Editor for Young People’s programming Karina Feirtéar said: “Is deis iontach atá anseo dár lucht féachana óg an aimsir a chur i láthair, casadh lena gcuid laochra agus spraoi a bheith acu ag an am céanna! Chuaigh na hiomaitheoirí agus an tsuim a bhí sa chomórtas i bhfeidhm go mór orainn. Is léiriú cinnte é go bhfuil an teanga beo bríomhar i measc ár lucht féachana óg agus i scoileanna. Bhí gach iontráil ar ardchaighdeán agus ní raibh sé éasca ag na moltóirí cúigear buaiteoirí a roghnú.”
