Travel columnist Anna Farren looks back on a sunny day spent celebrating beautiful spots on Donegal's coastline.
Last year my friend Katie was visiting from down the country on one unexpectedly gorgeous day. I decided to take her on a round county trip (or as much as a round county trip as one could in one day) in Co. Donegal. Almost a year later, she sent me a wonderful video diary of our day which brought me on a trip down memory lane, reminiscing over what was such a gorgeous day snapping photos and celebrating the beauty of dear old Co. Donegal!
We set off before midday and made our way towards Mt. Errigal, stopping off every so often to take pictures, I looked back over my collection and put together some of my favourite for the purpose of this post.
We randomly followed Wild Atlantic Way signs all day which brought us on a trip round Errigal, to Gaoth Dobhair. Here, the clouds covered the sky for the one and only time that day, which gave us the perfect excuse to hide away and indulge in home baked goods and tea, in a little bakery by the beach – ‘Cois Farraige’.
Following our pitstop, we travelled further afield to Donegal airport and took several more photos before making the return journey to Letterkenny via Horn Head.
Have a look at Katie’s video below to see the adventures we had and hopefully, give you some ideas for a daytrip in the days filled with sunshine to come!
