Letterkenny woman Joanne Gallinagh is well known from Beaus & Belles in Babyzone Letterkenny. She is a baby massage, toddler and kids yoga instructor and a mum to 14-month-old Noah.
As well as knowing all things about babies, Joanne knows a lot about style. This week she shared her style secrets with Donegal Woman.
Here is Joanne’s style study for Donegal Woman:
1. How would you describe your personal style?
I have found my style has changed quite significantly over the past two years due to a career change and becoming a mum.
My style is all about the comfort these days. You will find me in trainers for the majority of the week. I love following the latest fashion trends in the local high street shops. There’s not a week goes by that I don’t pop into River Island to see what’s new in.
2. Who is your style icon?
Pippa O’Connor….there is nothing about this lady I don’t love. I’m a huge lover of her jeans, blazer and casual top look with flats during the day. Next on my purchase list is a pair of Blue All Star Pocos. Looking forward to taking a trip to check out her Pop Up shop in Dundrum over Easter.
My mum has always been one of my style icons. I love how she can put a complete outfit together before she even gets out of the bed in the morning, from her jewellery to her shoes.
3. What is your favourite piece of clothing?
I LOVE this embellished bolero I bought in Blush Boutique in Carndonagh. It can be worn as a bolero or reversed as a little jacket.
4. What inspires you when choosing an outfit?
I get most of my inspiration from people on the street, trends in magazines, what Pippa is wearing lol.
5. How would you accessorise a look?
I love a chunky neckpiece. Since becoming a mum, the chunky neckpieces have taken a backseat.
Addicted to Stella & Dot at the minute, perfect pieces for layering up pendants.
6. What is your most recent fashion purchase?
This pastel blue blazer from River Island, I love the sleeve detail.
7. Where do you usually shop for clothing?
Penneys, Love the Savida collection in Dunnes, River Island, Zara, H&M
8. Do you have any favourite local fashion boutiques?
I love Blush in Carndonagh. If I have an occasion coming up it’s my first stop. I never leave empty handed.
9. What are your wardrobe staples?
A blazer, good fitting jeans, a pair of nude heels and a watch LOVE my watches.
10. Heels or flats?
Flats, I own more Nikes than I do heels.
11. Shoes or handbags?
My handbags have been replaced by a mamas & papas changing bag at the minute. As stylish as it is, I have to admit I’m looking forward to swapping back again SOON,lol
12. What is the best piece of fashion advice you’ve ever heard?
“Just Try It On” It’s amazing how different a piece of clothing can look off the hanger, good or bad.
13. What do you think about the fashion scene in Donegal?
There is nothing I like more than going out on a Saturday night for dinner and to House after for a glass of wine and watch the style. Serious stylish ladies we have in Donegal.
14. What has been your best investment piece?
Vibrant yellow blazer in River Island on sale about 4 years ago. I bring it out every Spring/Summer and always get complimented. Its fab teamed up with jeans or even a dress.
15. If you could wear only one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My Wedding Dress….It broke my heart taking it off, loved it. Magical hands of Kathy De Stafford.
16. What has been your biggest fashion faux-pas?
I think I can blame my mum for this faux-pas. White ankle socks and a pair of navy clogs for my confirmation. CRINGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17. If money wasn’t a factor, what would you buy?
A lifetime supply of Marc Jacob and Micheal Kors watches.
18. How do you feel when you’re in your favourite outfit?
I absolutely adore this outfit from Blush Boutique which I got for our friend’s wedding last year. I can’t wait to have an occasion to wear it again. I love the colour and the best bit ladies, the skirt has pockets.
