Mars UK and Ireland are recalling several of its most popular products because of a possible risk of Salmonella.

Mars Chocolate UK has taken the precautionary step of recalling a number of its products, including Galaxy Smooth Milk and Malteasers Teasers bars as well as bags of Minstrels and Counters.

The products being recalled in Ireland are:

  • 112g pouches of Galaxy Counters with a best before date of 13 May 2018.
  • Maltesers Teaser 35g bars with a best before date of 13 May 2018.

The possible presence of Salmonella was detected in the ingredients used in making some of the products while carrying out routine testing, a Mars notice said.

The company says it has not had any complaints and have decided to voluntarily recall the chocolates potentially affected in order to ensure customer safety.

Customers are being urged not to eat the affected products. The public are instead asked to keep the products and contact the Mars consumer care team to arrange return and reimbursement.
