Susan and Rana at Chandpur Indian Restaurant in Donegal Town will need to make room on their wall of certificates after earning another top accolade!
Chandpur Restaurant, a not-so-hidden gem in Donegal food scene, are celebrating this week after being awarded a coveted 5 Star Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.com.
The Bangladeshi eatery run by Rana and Susan Miah is at the top spot on the travel review site as the number one restaurant in Donegal Town and the entire county.
Susan Miah said the team are “over the moon” to earn the Certificate of Excellence for the fourth year in a row. “Not bad for a Bangladeshi restaurant considering the competition we have,” she says.
Head Chef Rana and his wife Susan have earned a highly decorated list of achievements since they opened in Donegal Town in 2012.
Few other restaurants in Ireland can display a five star rating on these certificates, but so many of Chandpur’s satisfied customers have been eager to share their top class experience on the site that they have given top mark reviews.
When asked about the secret to their success, Susan said it’s all about consistency. Chandpur have two chefs – Rana and his cousin Sultan, who cook authentic Indian curries with award-winning recipes from their homeplace. They won Best Young Chef at the Irish Curry Awards last year.
When customers are leaving, a small reminder from Susan to say they’d be honoured to have a review on TripAdvisor is usually all it takes to keep up their good reputation.
As they await their official certificate from Trip Advisor, Susan and the team are looking ahead to another awards ceremony this week. They have been nominated in three categories of the first Asian Food Awards. These awards were set up by NI Media, the publishers of the highly regarded YesChef magazine, in order to recognise the best of Asian chefs and restaurants.
Chandpur was shortlisted for Restaurant of the Year 2017, Chef of the Year 2017 and Front of House Award. The winners will be announced on Tuesday the 27th June in the City North Hotel Dublin.
For anyone who wants to see what makes the Chandpur curries so famous, you’ll be able to pick up a dish at the Chandpur mobile van at the funfair beside Sea Sessions in Bundoran this weekend.
