The Donegal Women’s League representative teams had superb weekends at the Gaynor Cup, held at the University of Limerick last weekend.

Both sides lost just one game in what was a superb four days of action on the UL campus.

Shannon Cunningham and Caoimhe Heron scored the Donegal Under-14s’ goals in a 2-1 win over North-East Counties.

Donegal Under-14s finished joint top of the group, but missed out on top spot on goal difference, following a 0-0 draw with Kilkenny.

In the Under-14 Shield quarter-final, Donegal defeated Midlands 2-1 with goals from Sinead McBride and Maria Bonner.

The Donegal Under-14s lost out narrowly, 1-0, to Midwest, on Saturday afternoon.

The Under-14s completed their tournament with a 3-1 win over Limerick when Orla Connolly, Ciara McGarvey and Rihanna Devenney netted.

Ciara McElwaine netted for a narrow 1-0 win over Midlands

An Eimear Sweeney penalty resulted in a 1-0 win over Clare before Aoife Kelly bagged the only goal of the game in a  1-0 win over Carlow.

A superb display saw Donegal earn a 1-1 draw with favourites Galway. Elmer Sweeney put Donegal ahead early on but Galway equalised with three minutes to go, but Donegal finished the group in second spot unbeaten.

The Under-16s lost out 2-1 to Longford in the Shield semi-final with Molly Page bagging the goal.

The Under-16s ended their Gaynor tournament with a 1-0 win over Tipperary, Aoife Kelly the woman on the mark.
