The 50th annual Mary from Dungloe International Festival is officially in full swing as the Marys arrive in Dungloe.
The Marys pulled into town this afternoon and stopped in to the Daniel O’Donnell visitor centre.
Gaeltacht Mary Courteney Boyle said she was up until 2am packing and getting organised for the busy week ahead with the help of her mum and sisters. Lettercaugh woman Courteney, who is in the Maghery Marching Fife and Drum Band says that she has spent many festivals marching in the parade, and this time is excited to experience it from the other side.
Edinburgh Mary Sarah Meechan says she had to pack her suitcase in the car on the way over as she had so much clothes she wanted to bring! Sarah comes over to Dungloe at every chance she gets, so she’s nearly like a local!
Surrey Mary Emma Boyle, whose father is from Lettermacaward, says she also comes over every year for the festival and says it had always been a massive part of her childhood.
The festival officially opens tonight, with a huge range of events planned for the next week.
