While we battle rain and drizzly days, it's always nice to look back on the times when summer showed up in Donegal.
Local photographer Kate Slevin shared this beautiful aerial shot of the Silver Strand Beach in July which had us lusting for more sunshine to brighten up the county.
Kate’s amazing capture of the beach at Malin Beg draws out Mediterranean colours and idyllic clear sands. The horse shoe beach is a real hidden gem of Donegal. It can only be accessed via over 100 steps, which makes it all the more a secret destination.
Kate is a popular landscape photographer who captures often-undiscovered locations and stunning sunrises and sunsets.
Here, she describes what makes the Silver Strand so unique:
The most stunning perfect beach you could ever see, surrounded by high horseshoe shaped cliffs, which act as giant wind breakers making this beach a natural sun trap with the most amazing scenery all round for miles as far as the eye can see. Also known as Trabane, The Doon, Malainn Bhig, Malinbeg, Silver Strand it is located 7kms from Glencolmcille. The Bay is accessed by a steeply sloping series of steps (165+) Easy on way down. Not so easy going back up!
