The Salmonella fears of 2017 concerning a select range of Mars Ireland products is back.
Following a distribution error, it has been found that certain batches of Galaxy Milk Bars and Maltesers Fun Size Bags sold in Ireland could carry a possible presence of Salmonella.
In June 2017, Mars Ireland and UK recalled a range of its products due to the possible presence of Salmonella. This same risk is associated with the newest recall, and while there are no reports of illness, the company are asking customers to return specific batches of chocolates.
The FSAI said that two pallets of the chocolates from 2017 were on hold with an Irish distributor and due to be destroyed, but were placed on the market accidentally.
The alert concerns the 42g Galaxy Smooth Milk bar (Batch code 720B1SLO00, best before 13.05.2018) and Maltesers Fun Size bags (Batch code 720A1SLO00, best before 13.05.2018).
Mars Ireland said that no other brands or varieties of chocolate, pack formats, bar sizes or best before dates are affected in Ireland.
Shops are asked to remove the products from the shelves and display warning notices informing customers not to eat them.
Consumers are advised not to eat the specific batches and if they have the products to contact the Mars Ireland Customer Care team using the following details:
Telephone: 1890 812 315
Post: Mars Ireland, PO Box 3856, Dublin 4.

What is the nature of the alert?
