Channel 4 have made a Derry Girls Spotify Playlist, and we can't wait get the hits going this Friday night.
Last night’s episode of Derry Girls was a mishmash of 90s throwbacks that conjured up all the nostalgia for a generation.
Events centred around a house party for the ‘wains from Chernobyl’, and all that everyone was talking about were the pop gems on the soundtrack.
We saw Erin and her gang go into a trance-like state to get in line when Whigfield’s Saturday Night came on. That iconic moment brought back disco memories from long ago for lots of viewers.
Whigfiel’s Saturday Night is 24 years old. Let that sink in #DerryGirls

If you didn’t do Whigfeilds “Saturday night” dance at a school disco in the 90’s are you even from here? #DerryGirls https://t.co/Fm53R38nKx

The episode was another rollercoaster of comedy and teenage troubles. One moment that pulled at the heartstrings was Granda Joe’s quest to find love again. The widower’s romantic efforts were shut down by his daughters, and the song they played for the closing credits ‘brought all the feels’.

A Woman’s Heart, by Mary Black and Eleanor McEvoy was a true classic of the era. Between this and the hopping party tunes, there was a mass call-out for a soundtrack – and Channel 4 delivered.

With Madonna, Dolly, Right Said Fred and so much more, it’s the best excuse for a party we’ve had all month. Get the disco balls going, the chocolate fountain flowing and put on your Claire’s Accessories chokers, and Jump Around!
