Organisers of an upcoming farmers' auction have created a priceless video to get into the spirit of rural life before the big event.
The Farmers’ Auction on Saturday night, 9pm at the Halfway House Burnfoot is the place to be this weekend for a great night’s craic in aid of a great cause – Lizzie says so!
The event, organised by Fahan woman Bernie Duffy, is in aid of CMRF Crumlin. Bernie attended Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital as a baby, and it has always been a place that’s close to her heart. She wanted to give back by fundraising to help other children in need with this fun event.
Promotion for the auction went above and beyond this week as Rose Devlin and Joe Arbuckle got into character to play a rural Donegal couple planning to attend.
Charlie needs a half a dozen sheep for his top field, and what better place to get them that the charity auction? There’ll be field sheep, brockies and all sorts of others for his good grass. The Farmers’ Auction will also have calves, ducks, hens at great prices, Lizzie says.
It’s a good long while since Lizzie and Charlie were out, and she’s all set to get on her high heels and dance the night away to the High Heels band.
Charlie and Lizzie’s comedic exchange is something you’d see in farm kitchens all over Donegal – him after rinsing the dirty boots around the corner but the wife is still fussing about her clean floor.
“Well take good long steps and don’t be leaving any footmarks on my floor there Charlie,” Lizzie says!
The fundraiser will have lots of prizes and surprises too, with a raffle and spot prizes for the ladies. The community has come together to kindly donate animals and items for the auction and gifts for the raffle.
Call down to the Halfway House from 9pm, Saturday 3rd February to join the craic. – Don’t you be forgettin!
