The proceeds from a Donegal family's Christmas lights display will be used to light up people's lives once more in 2018.
Kerrykeel family Michael and Mary Whoriskey have this week announced that their 2017 Christmas display has gathered an impressive €6,100 for charity.
Mary and Michael turn their house into another festive wonderland each December for locals to enjoy and to raise money for great causes.
A grand total of €6,100 was collected for the chosen charities of 2017. The family presented the donations this month, with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin receiving €3,500 and the Alzheimer’s Social Day Centre receiving €2,600.
The Whoriskeys have been decorating their home with stunning illuminations every Christmas for almost two decades and have raised almost €60,000 for great charities over the years.
The switch-on is always a feel-good festive event for the community, who come out to see the lights and meet Santa as he does the honours.
Michael and Mary have expressed their gratitude to all who assisted with this year’s fundraiser:
“We would sincerely like to thank all who came to visit our Christmas Lights fundraising and donated so generously, also to all who supported our various fundraising during the year.
