The CoLab in Letterkenny was a hive of activity this morning for an exciting networking fundraiser in aid of the North West Simon Community.
Delicious treats, copious amounts of caffeine and an innovative business setting were the perfect blend for the ‘Let’s Meet for a Coffee’ event organised by Evelyn Mc Glynn. The marketing consultant behind Evelyn Mc Marketing decided to theme the fundraiser around the idea of people always telling each other ‘we must meet for a coffee’, but never doing so!
The morning attracted people from all across the business, voluntary and community sectors to meet up and have some long-overdue coffee meetings in support of a worthy cause.
Andy Doherty and Michael McGettigan of Yes Chef Catering provided fresh home baked scones and pastries, which proved to be very popular as they were constantly restocking their display. NW Simon Community assistant Bernie Wilson ensured everyone’s cup was full of teas and coffees for their busy morning.
Ballybofey woman Evelyn Mc Glynn hosted the event as a celebration of her five years in business and an acknowledgement of thanks and appreciation to all in her business community. Naturally, Evelyn was busy welcoming guests, introducing people to each other and encouraging everyone to network and collaborate.
Over €600 was raised in donations to the North West Simon Community, while the event was also a beneficial awareness initiative for the charity.
Collette Ferguson Development Officer for Donegal said: “We are delighted to have this event here today with Evelyn Mc Glynn and Yes Chef Catering. It’s a great event for the North West Simon Community, to network and also to create awareness for the cause. North West Simon Community works with the homeless throughout Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo. Last year alone we prevented over 185 families and individuals becoming homeless.
“Whilst sleeping rough represented the most severe form of homelessness, in Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo it’s not immediately identifiable. Our clients are either in emergency accommodation, temporary accommodation or on the housing waiting list or waiting for suitable accommodation in the private rental sector.
“The money is raised from such events as today will go directly into the service that we provide.”
