A local mother's long road to recovery is becoming more positive each week.

Newtowncunningham woman Vanessa Donohoe’s recovery has taken another very positive step.

The family of the mum-of-three who took ill in Spain in June have announced that she will be travelling home to Ireland in just a few days’ time.

Doctors in the Barcelona hospital where Vanessa has been treated gave the okay for travel yesterday following recent scans.

Vanessa was moved out of ICU two weeks previously, as she progressed in her recovery from a number of brain surgeries following a severe brain aneurysm.

The community of Newtowncunningham and surrounding areas have warmly greeted the latest uplifting news from Vanessa’s husband PJ and family and look forward to seeing her cared for at home.
