Experienced drama professional Nicola Keegan Laughlin will be inspiring creative young minds at Act One Drama School.
The fun is just about to begin at Act One Drama School in Letterkenny, established by Letterkenny woman Nicola Keegan Laughlin.
Based in Letterkenny Educate Together NS from Tuesday, the 11th of September, Act One Drama School is open to all students aged 4-18, from junior infants upwards, in Letterkenny and the surrounding areas.
It will provide students with the unique opportunity to work in a small group setting and learn fun valuable skills under the guidance of a professional drama instructor.
Nicola has over a decade’s experience working with children and helping them reach their full potential through drama.
A graduate of the prestigious Rose Bruford College in London in 2003, Nicola was represented by a prominent UK agent and worked as a professional actor in London for a number of years before returning home to Letterkenny and establishing a thriving drama school in Carndonagh.
Nicola is currently undertaking a Masters in Drama in Education at Trinity College Dublin which focuses on interactive and proactive ways to learn and discover through drama. Nicola is also a special needs assistant in Letterkenny Educate Together National School where she works with children with varying individual needs.
Act One Drama is about promoting children’s individual growth and group co-operation in a creative, relaxed and fun environment.
Class sizes are limited to 15 students with the exception of the infant classes which will have 10 students per class. The small class sizes enables students to develop their collaboration skills during dynamic group work, while simultaneously allowing each student to receive a fun-filled programme that has been tailor-made for their individual goals, whether they are an aspiring actor, wish to build confidence, or simply looking for a creative outlet.
Speaking about the launch of school, Nicola said: “I’m absolutely delighted to open Act One Drama School in my hometown of Letterkenny. I’m excited to use my years of acting experience to create a unique programme that allows children to think creatively, improve confidence and communication skills and, most importantly, develop a knowledge of themselves in a fun and challenging learning environment.
“The school teaches life-skills as well as performance skills and I have no doubt we’ll have a fun and action-packed year ahead!” – Nicola Keegan Laughlin
Act One Drama School offers a free trial class to new students at any stage throughout the year, depending on class availability.
The new term of Act One Drama School commences in Letterkenny Educate Together NS on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and are available to all students in Letterkenny and surrounding areas. Classes in Carndonagh are on Mondays in the Colgan Hall.
