The owner of a Donegal pre-school is hosting a kind-hearted charity collection this October.
As families begin to clear out toy boxes before Santa delivers new Christmas gifts, this collection at Little V.I.P’s Preschool Dunkineely seeks to gather donations for the children in Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin.
The initiative is being launched by school Proprietor Lisa Boyle, whose baby girl received vital care at the Children’s Hospital. Lisa saw the important impact that toys have in making life better for families receiving treatment away from home.
Lisa said: “Crumlin took our baby girl in as an emergency case in July 18, we owe them everything we have.”
Now, Lisa is inviting local parents and those in the school community of the Little V.I.P’s Dunkineely Montessori and Preschool to donate good-condition toys for the hospital.
Lisa said: “When we visited other departments of the hospital it was clear that they put a lot of effort into having ‘play’ areas for children of all ages, however they could use a lot more, and with the new children’s hospital, it only makes sense.
“Crumlin is ‘home’ for 100’s of these children from weeks to years.
“Every child needs their own corner so we hope to make Crumlin a more fun home for all children down there.”
Lisa will be travelling to Crumlin with her baby again in October and hopes to bring some extra gifts for the young patients with her.
If you have any toys in near perfect condition and feel they still have a few years, you can drop them to the Little V.I.P’s school in the centre of Dunkineely. Boxes can be left by the front door. You can text 0877438582 to inform Lisa Boyle that toys have been dropped off and they will then be put into the storage container beside the school.
The first collection will be delivered to Dublin on the evening of October 3rd. There will be a second collection in December, with details to be confirmed.
