Interior Designer Anne Tuohy has a guide on how to put up the perfect Christmas wreath.

For me, the Christmas wreath hung on the front door, is one of my favourite seasonal decorations.

It welcomes family and friends to your home and can also say a lot about your personality and style.

Whether you put up a fresh pine wreath, or have one that you use every year, unleash your creativity and add ribbons, decorations, bells, lights, a monogrammed letter, anything at all that takes your fancy, and make it uniquely yours.

Here are some of my favourites.

When to hang it?

Around the 5th of December, and keep it up till January 6th

Where to position it?

Place it on the front door, about three quarters way towards the top. If you have split double doors, I suggest that you hang an identical wreath on each door.

How to hang it?

On a timber door, I usually stick a thumb-tack in the door and hang the wreath from it on some looped ribbon.

You could also use 3M Command picture fixing solutions. They will carry a weight up to 15kg and can be peeled of afterwards, leaving no damage to the door.

You can buy them in most DIY shops, and no girl’s toolbox should be without some.

You can also position a 3M Command hook upside down on the inside of your door near the top. You can then hang your wreath with ribbon as shown here.

Get your whole family involved, and have a bit of fun creating perfect wreath. I often make a monogrammed one just to create something a little different.
