Samantha Kelly is a leading social media strategist, speaker and trainer who runs her thriving online businesses from her home in Co. Wexford.

Samantha is the founder of the Women’s Inspire Network, which is coming to Harvey’s Point for a major conference on 10th April 2019. Top speakers and influencers will appear at this jam-packed event themed on ‘Overcoming Challenges’ in business and in life.

Samantha has a non-stop presence online (she even had a  hashtag for her wedding last November!), but she took some time to talk to DW this week to tell us about how her career began and what we can look forward to at Women’s Inspire Donegal.

My Business – Samantha Kelly:

I help people get their business noticed through Twitter and other social media platforms.

I’ve a huge network of women in business which I have built up through being authentic, helpful and sharing my knowledge.

I created Women’s Inspire Network as I noticed that there were lots of female entrepreneurs just like me out there who needed help and needed to learn more but hadn’t got time to get to workshops and also felt isolated working from home (just like me) so I created an online global network so we could chat online and learn on webinars.

We also do two conferences per year so that when people finally meet it’s hugs not handshakes!

How did you get to where you are today?

I started in business 7 years ago with a totally different business called ‘Funky Goddess’ I started using Twitter to promote it and build relationships and discovered that I really ‘got it’ and got great results from it.

People started approaching me to help them with their Twitter accounts and that was when I realised that most business owners needed help because they were either time poor and didn’t have time to do it or they didn’t understand it and how it worked.

I saw a gap in the market for a Twitter expert so I learned as much as I could and became a Twitter influencer myself.

I’m now on numerous global lists and I speak all over the world about the power of Twitter. I have over 48k followers and am a verified Twitter account

What have been the highlights of your career?

Speaking at social media marketing world in San Diego and winning the Irish Internet Association award for Best Social Media activity in 2017! Also seeing others succeed who I have helped along the way gives me great satisfaction.

What are the most valuable things you have learned about business over the years?

Be yourself, assist others and share your knowledge. When you do that, others will see that you are the expert and hire you. Build a community of like minded people around you. Be kind. It always comes back to you.

Would you have any advice for Donegal businesswomen?

All of the above. But support others and don’t get involved in gossip. There are two sides to every story. Don’t worry about copy cats. Just keep being the best. Remember, they don’t have your unique selling point – YOU. Hang in there, be proud of your achievements no matter how small.

Who is part of your business network?

Your network is your net worth. This is so true. I have built up a loyal network of other female entrepreneurs around me. It’s not about me. It’s about my audience. I know who the genuine people are and surround myself with them.

The Women’s inspire network is a huge part of my success. Their support is essential for me. I also have a few mentors who I bounce ideas off and who keep me on track. There are certain people who have always believed in me and I never forget them.  My team are also a huge part of my success. Sharon, Dee, Ben, Esther and Martina have been so helpful and are the best at what they do.

What is the most rewarding thing about your work?

Seeing my clients achieve results and not only results, but seeing their star rise

What or who inspires you to succeed?

My daughters and my husband.

Seeing other women and men just like me who are just trying to make a better life for themselves and their families inspire me.

What are your goals for the future?

To build the biggest online global network in the world. To speak more in the USA and to have a hugely inspiring and successful conference in Donegal on April 10th! Am looking forward to building new relationships in Donegal before during and after!
