The prize-winning cup was in memory of a late Donegal man.
Emily Colangelo is the pride of Dungloe this week after claiming the 2019 All Ireland Irish Dancing Championship at the INEC in Killarney.
The 14-year-old competed against 220 dancers from around the world in the age 14-15 category to gain this highly prestigious title.
Emily’s parents, Ben and Christina Colangelo, both from Dungloe said they are immensely proud of their daughter’s achievements.
Emily’s mother, Christina said: “What has made this award even more special is the cup Emily was presented with was in memory of the late Donáil McCafferty formally of Gaoth Dobhair.
“Whilst this cup has in previous years been presented to dancers from all over the world, it’s wonderful to see it return to Donegal having been now won by a local dancer.”
Emily’s next step is to travel to the World Championships in North Carolina, USA in April 2019 with 20 of her dancing colleagues from the McNelis Cunningham Boyle School of Irish Dancing.
