The Kellys from Letterkenny are hoping their garden transformation will help Donegal get its own Super Garden winner.
Donegal landscaper Paddy McDermott will appear on ‘Super Garden’ this week to reveal how he created a dream garden for the Kellys of Letterkenny in just four weeks.
The Ballybofey man will make his debut on the RTÉ One gardening show on Thursday the 9th of May at 8.30pm.
Paddy owns his own business called Creative Landscaping Works and has been in landscaping for fourteen years.
He is quite confident in his work, having entered Super Garden with his ‘Family Togetherness’ design.
This week’s show will see Paddy using his talents to transform the garden of a well-known Letterkenny family.
Kieran and Olivia Kelly moved into their home in Letterkenny four years ago after getting married. They have since welcomed their first child, Joshua, who was born in September 2018. They now want Paddy to turn their garden into a super garden and create the ‘Family Togetherness’ design into their home garden.
Kieran Kelly works on his garden every summer, cutting the grass and prying the trees and has recently become “green fingered” in taking care of his garden. He wanted to get a bit more creative with his garden and decided to hand it over to someone who knows more in that area like Paddy.
Paddy has big plans for the garden and the design as he wants to turn it into that super garden that will stun the judges. The ‘Family Togetherness’ design for the garden will have a modern feel towards it along with being a homely and relaxing place.
There will be a chill-out area for children with beanbags along with potted bamboo to keep it private. He also has a space for the adults with a raised patio under a wooden pergola with a nest seat to swing out over a lavender bed.
Paddy will put in a Japanese Acer as his centrepiece which will be surrounded by Japanese forest grass. There will also be a water feature to set off the look of the garden and to complete that turn around from a normal garden to a super garden.
With this makeover, the garden will be a place for both children and adults and somewhere for the family to relax with friends whenever they can to fully bring to life the ‘Family Togetherness’ design and capture exactly what Paddy wants for the Kellys.
Along with making sure the Kelly family is happy, Paddy also wants to bring that extra bit more and completely stun the judges with his design to win a coveted show garden spot at Ireland’s premier garden festival, Bloom 2019.
At the same time, Kieran and Olivia are hoping that their garden will be the one that helped Donegal get its own Super Garden winner.
Make sure to tune in on RTÉ on Thursday the 9th of May at 8.30pm to see the Super Garden Paddy has created.
