A new thriller series set in Donegal and written by Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee was unveiled ahead of the new season on Virgin Media TV.
The Deceived is going to be a dark departure from McGee’s comedy writing in the hit Channel4 series Derry Girls. She developed the show along with her husband, Tobias Beer.
The four-part drama centres on a young Cambridge student who has an affair with her Irish lecturer, a married man. But when she follows him back to Donegal, the affair has tragic consequences.
In a compelling, sinister narrative of lust, manipulation and betrayal, the student finds herself trapped in a world where she can no longer trust her own mind.

The suspenseful thriller will have some great characters in Donegal, including an Irish mammy, teased Lisa.
But no release date has been announced just yet for The Deceived. Viewers will have to wait until autumn and stay tuned for more.

Hi,
I am watching Derry Girls for the second time and I am on Episode 3 of Series 2.
I am from Donegal, living in Drogheda, so I will really look out for . “The Decieved” to hit our screens. Lisa McGee brilliantly captures the wit and humour of the Derry wans. She will have a harder job deciphering the droll outpouring over the border in Donegal.
As long as she catches herself on she will be grand.
Best wishes to all concerned.
