If you’re a fan of Derry Girls (if you’re not then “catch yourself on”) and the Great British Bake-Off, 2020 is going to have the best possible start for you.
I think we can all agree that a year is too long to wait to see our favourite group of troublesome friends and the iconic Sister Michael on our screens and, thankfully, it seems as though Channel 4 has answered our prayers.
On New Year’s Day, Channel 4 will be hosting Saoirse-Monica Jackson(Erin), Nicola Coughlan (Clare), Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Michelle), Dylan Llewellyn (James) and Siobhan McSweeney (Sister Michael) in the Great British Bake-Off’s festive tent. The group will be hoping not to “boke” under the pressure that we usually see contestants under!
Nicola Coughlan shared the news on her Twitter page, writing, “The News is Out! #DerryGirls do #BakeOff!!! Tune in on New Years Day to see if we burn down the tent”, along with a statement from Love Productions:
“The Great Festive Bake-Off sees Noel, Sandi, Prue and Paul welcoming brand new bakers to the festive tent for the first time, in the form of the Derry Girls star cast. Baking up some New Year’s inspired bakes and competing for the coveted Star Baker title are Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Dylan Llewellyn and Siobhan McSweeney. Together they’ll see in the New Year With London Community Gospel Choir.”
Although the air time has not yet been announced, we cannot wait to grab our leftover Quality Street and watch the drama and craic unfold!
