It turns out that I’m a Celebrity contestant Nadine Coyle was preparing for the jungle long before heading down under this month.
The Derry pop star was in Donegal two weeks ago to get up close to the three resident bears of the Wild Ireland sanctuary.
Nadine, whose parents live in Burnfoot, was a bit hesitant about feeding one of the rescue bears, but with some help from reserve owner Killian McLaughlin, she managed to complete the challenge.
We can imagine that Nadine’s upcoming Bushtucker Trials will be much more daring than feeding a bear who’s safely behind an enclosure!
The 34-year-old shared her experience at Wild Ireland on Instagram and praised the team behind the special animal welfare project in Burnfoot.
Nadine will be heading to the Australian jungle on Sunday 17th November for the new edition of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
She said she has a phobia of heights, rats, snakes and almost everything. But at least she can tick bears off the list.
By signing up for I’m a Celebrity, Nadine, who has one daughter named Anaiya, hopes that stepping outside her comfort zone will give her renewed confidence.
She said: “I really want to try something completely new. I am scared of so many things. I used to be brave. In the past, I’ve opened a restaurant, had a record label, had my daughter and it was go, go, go with all of these.
“Now I have got so fearful even being in the car, flying or general things. I think it is since I became a parent that I am much more afraid.”
“I really hope that by doing this, it pushes me so far out the comfort zone and that I learn to be comfortable, feel relaxed and do the things that I didn’t used to be afraid of.”
