Romance was in the air at the Spring 2020 Harvey’s Point Wedding Showcase - but we were all falling for the interiors!

As twilight fell on Lough Eske last night, the new-look Grand Ballroom at Harvey’s blended in beautifully with its surroundings.

The revamped function room has undergone a €1million redesign to maximise its best asset – the stunning views of the serene water outside. Teal blues, sage, soft whites and French grey tones have been introduced to the new colour scheme to modernise the space and bring the outdoors in.

Thursday’s wedding showcase welcomed couples, friends and families to the resort to check out the 300-capacity ballroom.

Future Harvey’s couples who have their 2020 and 2021 dates secured also attended to see the location for their dream day. Many couples loved the original ballroom when they first booked their wedding receptions, but now they say the new transformation is the icing on the cake.

New General Manager Niall Coffey outlined the changes: “As we know, it was a fantastic ballroom beforehand, but what it really needed was some modernisation.”

Niall continued: “The ballroom was stripped back, a new carpet was specially designed for Harvey’s, showing the amount of effort that goes into every aspect of the business.

“The carpet is very much fitting with the lake outside.”

Una O’Dowd of the Windward Management group was hailed as the backbone of the concept. Una worked hand-in-hand with the interior designers to bring the elegant and glamorous transformation to fruition.

Gone are the red carpets, red chairs, long ceiling drapes and grey stone walls. The showstopping chandeliers have been preserved, with new lights added for a little extra sparkle.

The layout of the room is the same to keep the dropped dancefloor and stage that guests love at weddings and cabarets. A new dancefloor has been installed, along with a new lighting programme and sound system. The beautiful gold bannisters which frame the dancefloor have also been kept. New white/gold Dior chairs are on the way to compliment the metallic detailing of the bannisters.

To the left is the famous food hall – where every great feast begins at Harvey’s events.

“The tradition in Harvey’s Point is the grand buffet, so we did a beautiful new food hall to give it another wow factor,” Niall said.

“It’s not only for fantastic weddings but also for our functions and also for our traditional Sunday carvery, which is what Harvey’s is known for.”

Head Chef Chris McMenamin and the culinary team are also delighted with the smart new elements of the food hall, which includes four island buffets with plates tucked into the islands to leave more room for food displays.

“We love the open space, you can walk around the island buffets and there is space for people to mingle,” Chef Chris said.

“We have a newly-made serving kitchen and we have a brand new ice-cream cabinet. We still have our famous crepes, and freshly-cooked chicken wings to order.”

Couples who are planning their weddings at Harvey’s can look forward to even more upgrades in the year to come. Work is about to begin on new Bridal Suites/Penthouses in the coming weeks. More investment is also on the way to create new decking areas around the lake.

“The true unique point about Harvey’s is its location. Its location in Donegal and its location around the beautiful lake and mountains in the back. It’s a magnificent backdrop, you couldn’t beat it,” said Niall.
