Donegal Sexual Abuse & Rape Crisis Centre (DSARCC) have devised an online self-help resource pack to support survivors of rape and sexual abuse in the north west during Covid-19.
The self-help pack can be accessed via the DSARCC Facebook page or by emailing info@donegalrapecrisis.ie.
The pack contains useful guidance surrounding managing your self-care, COVID-19, children and young people and much more.
Although the DSARCC premises are closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the staff and counsellors remain available to offer counselling support to survivors of rape and sexual abuse of all genders and gender identities aged 14+, from Donegal and surrounding counties including cross border in a confidential and safe way.
Marina Porter, Manager stated: ‘Our staff are working remotely from home, supporting our clients over the phone or online, by whatever means is best for individuals. Our helpline remains open for any person who wishes to call for information, support or guidance. We fully welcome the ‘still-here’ campaign, spearheaded by the Department of Justice & Equality, this campaign emphasises that support services for domestic and sexual violence are ‘still here’ during the COVID-19 crisis’.

- Counselling Telephone Support/Facetime or other secure method- suitable to client needs.
- Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU) Support – 087 068 1964
- SATU Psychological Support Volunteer – Telephone Support available
Ms Porter further stated, ‘If anyone reading this feels that they are in a vulnerable position or unsafe in their current environment, please see the information below:
‘If you are experiencing / experienced sexual violence or sexual abuse, please know that we are here to support you as much as possible; If you require immediate assistance, please contact: An Garda Siochana – Call 999 if you’re in danger, or your local Garda Station. Please remember the 2km rule does not apply to you if you are at risk of Domestic or Sexual Violence. You are not alone’.
The National 24-hr helpline is also available for confidential listening support to any person who has been raped, sexually assaulted, sexually harassed or sexually abused at any time in their lives. They can also give you contact details for your local Rape Crisis Centre.
