I try out Patrick Gildea’s ‘Colour Refresh’ home service for a glossy hair revival.
The date is in sight – 20th July is when hairdressers will reopen – but yet it’s so far away!
In the meantime, Patrick Gildea Hairdressing in Letterkenny are looking after customers with Colour Refresh Home Kits.
The safe semi-permanent toning kits have been created to tide us over until we let the professionals treat our colour again. The toner is designed to soften greys and add depth and tone for up to 10 washes.
Thankfully I have no greys yet, but my blonde ends were in need of some colour correction after a four month break from the PGH salon.
What I really noticed from using the toner was the gorgeous gloss and conditioning effect. It evened out my colour just slightly and darkened the blend of tones from roots to mid-section.
Plus it just felt great to make an effort with my hair and feel like I’ve had it done again.
Here’s the before and after finish – check out that shine!:
The process is easy, thanks to a video guide on Patrick Gildea’s Facebook page. The guide talks guests through how to dye from roots to ends, while I mainly concentrated the product on my balayage. The Refresh is ready to use, just apply it to shampooed and towel-dried hair for up to 20 minutes before rinsing.
I have to admit I’ve never dyed my hair at home before, but this was really easy to do and knowing that the Refresh has no ammonia or peroxide assured me that I couldn’t go wrong. (Make sure to do a skin test though)
There is a range of colours available, but Patrick Gildea has all guests’ colours on file to easily prescribe what will work best. The kit comes with a Colour Save Shampoo and Conditioner for extra home hair care.
In the weeks to come, this little kit is exactly the temporary solution I need to softly and gently keep my colour and conditioning in check. If only Patrick delivered his famous ‘G’ coffees too! I miss them!
The Colour Refresh kits are available to order for €69.00 inclusive of delivery. To order call Blaithin 0862001562 or email blaithingildea2000@gmail.com. Free phone consultations are available.
DW reviews are in collaboration with Patrick Gildea Hairdressing, but all opinions are my own.
