Two creative Donegal women have shared a new project to help people note their learning experiences from Covid-19.
These long weeks at home have given people time to reflect, pursue hobbies and do a bit of self-discovery. Some of us have learned a lot as we adjusted to this sudden change of pace.
Ramelton artist Laura Buchanan and Portsalon-based Marketing Manager Isla McGuckin have created a way for us to pause for a moment and preserve these learnings and memories in a beautiful way.
The ‘Learnings from Lockdown’ pages are free printable PDFs to download and fill out. Designed by Laura and phrased by Isla, the pages are a great way to look back on this experience and preserve our own piece of personal history. There are adult and family versions and they are both free to download on: https://laurabuchanan.ie/collections/all
Isla said: “During lockdown, I’ve had moments of clarity about myself and where I find meaning. Insights that I’m keen to hold onto, as lockdown starts to lift. I noted down some questions to answer – some by myself and some with my family – to create little keepsakes. Then I wondered if other people might find it insightful – or maybe just fun – to do the same? And so here we are!”
The artwork is based on a series of Lockdown Lino Prints by Laura. The prints depict parts of everyday life during lockdown such as home schooling, working from home and phoning friends. Laura recently did a Curated Content takeover of the Regional Cultural Centre’s Instagram page to share the process of her daily work.
The prints can be viewed on Laura’s Instagram account @laurabuchanandesigns and they will be available to purchase after lockdown.
