A fresh new Donegal clothing company is keeping beachgoers cosy in the coolest of places.
Kit Row is a new brand by surf-loving sisters Triona and Claire Mc Menamin from Letterkenny.
Triona, a primary school teacher and swim coach, and Claire, an architect based in London, teamed up to celebrate their love of the sea and local forests.
Their jumpers and T-shirts feature unique and contemporary designs based on local holiday hotspots.
The first wave of designs are inspired by Dunfanaghy, Marble Hill and Ards Forest Park. The casual pieces were made with summer walks and post-swim warm ups in mind.
Each piece is eco-friendly too, with organic cotton and recycled polyester used throughout.
Kit Row reflects the coastal lifestyle Triona and Claire have enjoyed all their life.
As head coach of Tonnta Swim School, Triona is a qualified Level 2 Swim Coach as well as an Instructor, Surf Lifesaving Coach and Examiner with Water Safety Ireland. Tonnta currently has sea swimming lessons running for adults and children on Marble Hill Beach and Carrickfinn beaches.
Claire spent her summers during college lifeguarding on Donegal’s beautiful beaches. She is a chartered architect, currently practicing in London, and specialises in intricate and atmospheric drawings and has had her work exhibited in the National Gallery and won the Bruce Short prize in 2011.
The sisters’ exciting step into clothing is already making waves, and we’ll be sure to spot people wearing Kit Row as they enjoy the best of Donegal’s beach lifestyle this summer.
