Daniel O’Donnell has asked fans not to send him birthday cards for his 60th birthday but to donate to a charity set up in memory of a young Donegal woman.
The singing sensation reaches his milestone birthday on December 12th next.
However, a spokesperson for the millionaire entertainer has appealed to fans to donate to a suicide counselling charity in Dungloe instead.
Gemma’s Legacy of Hope is an Association set up to honour the memory of Gemma Boyle, a Burtonport woman who brought joy and happiness to her family and her community during her lifetime.
Gemma sadly passed away in February 2020.
The spokesperson for Daniel said “A lot of people have been asking for an address to send a card or gift to Daniel for his 60th birthday in December.
“Even though Daniel appreciates the kind gesture he wants you to know that he doesn’t need anything.
“But if you wish he would rather you donate the cost of the card or gift to a charity.
“And if you’re wondering what his preferred charity would be its called Gemma’s legacy of hope.
Gemma’s Legacy of Hope has been set up to help shine a light of hope to individuals living and working in this community so that they are supported to find the courage and strength towards a path to improved happiness and fulfilling lives.
This fundraiser aims to facilitate counselling service support in the Rosses and Fintown Primary Care Area.
