The Local Enterprise Office in Donegal celebrated International Women’s Day in style today with an inspiring event at Castle Grove Country House as part of Local Enterprise Week 2022.
Seventy women in business attended to hear from designer and business owner Sonya Lennon and local founders Jenni Timony of FitPink Fitness and Ciara McGlynn, CEO of NICHE Specialist Staffing Partners.
The theme of the morning was ‘Ambition’ and encouraging words were shared at every opportunity. The team from Donegal LEO shared how they support local women who have a burning ambition to develop and grow their business through the ‘Ambition’ female pre-accelerator programme.
Jenni and Ciara shared honest and open accounts of their entrepreneurial journeys, delving into important issues and lessons on strategising, staffing and work/life balance. Later, Sonya Lennon proudly shared her Donegal roots, having been born in Ballyshannon before her family moved when she was two years old. Sonya’s words of business advice related to the defining choices she has made, the value of relationships and the magic that happens when you stretch your comfort zone.
How women manage their internal narrative was a strong theme of Sonya’s talk, and she told all attendees that “the possibility for extraordinary lives in every one of us” – some excellent words to remember in all that we do.
