A special fundraising weekend is about to kick off at Four Masters GAA club in memory of a much-loved legendary player, Donna Boyle (née Dunnion).
This Saturday will see the GAA community coming together to remember a mother, wife, daughter and a dear friend who inspired so many others.
Donna sadly passed away from cancer in February. The 41-year-old teacher and mum of two left a lasting legacy at Tír Chonaill Park which will be proudly honoured by her family and friends.
The #ATeamForDonna challenge is already gathering momentum online, while memorial games and an entertainment evening will take place in Donegal Town on Saturday.
Donna was a true role model in Ladies GAA. Having started at the tender age of 11, she honed her talent to help secure Senior County Championship victories in 2006 and 2007. She was also a key player in the 2003 Donegal Junior All-Ireland winning team.
She wore the blue and white jersey with immense pride and passionately supported the club and her brother Barry on the senior team through her time of illness.
Donna’s family want to give back to Cancer Care West, Donegal Hospice and other local charities in gratitude for the comfort she was given during her sickness.
“The work that these organisations do is phenomenal, and it is only when you are in need of these services, do you realise the fantastic work they do and the comfort that they provide,” they said.
Everyone is welcome to get involved with the fundraisers and please support in any way you can, with a guide on how to do so below.
