Cervical cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan has issued a huge thank you to two kind staff members of a Donegal cafe who gave her breakfast ‘on the house’.
Vicky and her family were holidaying in Dunfanaghy last week when they stopped off at Lizzie’s Diner one morning.
She was recognised by staff members Hazel and Marina who offered her the entire breakfast for free.
Afterwards, Vicky issued a warm thank you to the “two amazing women”.
“Thank you both for this lovely gesture,” Vicky said.
The Lizzie’s Diner team responded to the praise saying: “It’s great to hear you enjoyed your visit with us Vicky. The lovely staff mentioned are Hazel and Marina.”
The heartwarming moment was one of the highlights of Vicky’s bucket list holiday along the north coast this week.
Hitting the open road in a campervan with her husband Jim and their son Darragh, they toured to Sligo, Donegal, Portrush and Carlingford. Sharing stories of the holiday afterwards, Vicky recommended to friends to visit the Assaranca Waterfall in Ardara and The Rusty Oven in Dunfanaghy.
The trio spent the second night of their trip in Dunfanaghy, where they parked up for the night and made it just in time to get orders in at The Rusty Oven. It was “the most AMAZING pizza” according to Vicky.
The family then drove to Portrush, Portstewart and a much-anticipated visit to the Giants Causeway, which Vicky says she had on her bucket list.
She wrote: “I am soooo glad that I was well enough to make this trip and to make it to the Giants Causeway, which has been on my bucket list for a loooong time. I thoroughly enjoyed the vanlife experience and will definitely do it again.”
