The 2022 North West Breast Cancer Charity Ball has raised an amazing €14,568.
The organising committee of the ball have thanked all those who attended, sponsored or in any way supported this important community event.
This increasingly popular night on the North West social calendar was attended by a capacity crowd, with glamour and glitz being the order of the day…or night!
The committee extends particular thanks to Miriam O Callaghan, our special guest on the night. Miriam was very generous with her time, mingling with everyone and posing for many photos.
She spoke movingly of the loss of her own sister to cancer. However, she urged all of us to approach each day in a spirit of gratitude because, in Miriam’s words “Growing old is a privilege not granted to everyone.”
Also in attendance, with a group of family and friends, was former special guest, Andrea Gilligan.
The committee is particularly keen to acknowledge the support of a great number of sponsors, local and national, whose generosity year after year never ceases to amaze.
Also worthy of special mention are host Noel Cunningham and social diarist Gabrielle Mc Monagle, along with public representatives, local businesses, local GP practices and representatives from the local media who attended the event.
The committee also extends its gratitude to Ciaran and Rose Blaney and their very professional team at the Silver Tassie Hotel for preparing a stunning venue and serving an excellent meal.
The committee have been blown away by the generosity of supporters this year with a whopping €14,568 raised on the night.
The monies raised at the ball support research at Breast Centre North West, including the employment of research fellows during the summer months. Research carried out at Breast Centre North West has been presented at national and international meetings.
Funds are also used to support patient comfort at the clinic as well as aspects of community care, including an outreach programme to those recovering from breast cancer. In their generous support of the North West Breast Cancer Charity Ball 2022, ball attendees and all who have supported the event have contributed to this work. Thank you from the organising committee and all at Breast Centre North West.
As well as raising much needed funds for research, it is the hope of the organising committee that the ball raises awareness regarding the importance of regular self examination for any changes in the appearance or feel of the breast area as early diagnosis is a positive indicator regarding patient outcomes.
Women from 50 to 69 are also urged to register and avail of free scheduled appointments with Breastcheck Ireland as part of their staying healthy routine.
