Letterkenny fitness instructor Ciara McVeigh-Lunn is launching a new over-50s exercise programme spearheaded by Donegal Sports Partnership and supported by the HSE.
‘Move 2 The Beat’ is a six-week programme beginning in Letterkenny on Wednesday, February 22nd.
All are welcome, even those with two left feet!
Donegal Sports Partnership’s Sports Development Officer, Karen Guthrie, said: “The real focus is on movement to the music. It’s about the coordination to music and stepping to the beats that gets them the exercise. It’s a safe way of getting exercise because there’s less risk. This is the first time for Donegal Sports Partnership to roll out the programme.
“Ciara McVeigh-Lunn will be the lead instructor for the Move 2 The Beat programme. It’s a community-based exercise to music for over-50s and is open to men and women. It’s designed to be a bit of fun and a bit of craic. You don’t have to be able to dance to take part in the programme.”
“Our aim is to get people participating – to get them up and active. Some people wouldn’t have danced years ago, so this is a great way for them to get back into dancing. If the desire is there, the plan would be to move the programme out to various other communities in Donegal. If there are community groups interested in hosting the programme, please email karen@activedonegal.com,” she added.
Conwal Parish Hall on Letterkenny’s Cathedral Square is the venue for the six morning sessions that will be held on successive Wednesdays between 11 am and 12 noon, with of tea and coffee served afterwards.
