It was a night of emotions and pride as Donegal’s Margo O’Donnell was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday night’s Late Late Show Country Music Special.

The moment was made even more special as she was presented with the accolade by her brother Daniel.

Margo was moved to tears when she discovered that it was her turn to make the achievement.

Margo dedicated her honour to her late friend, Big Tom.

Daniel told his sister: “I am thrilled, and nobody deserves this more than you for all you have done for so many people.”

Margaret Catherine O’Donnell, aged 72, has had a remarkable 57 years in show business.

“Margaret was there at the beginning . . . with Big Tom and Larry, and Gene Stuart and Brian Coll, and many others,” Daniel said.

Prior to the presentation, Margo opened up about the sad passing of her beloved sister Kathleen Doogan, who died suddenly in February.

Margo told Ryan Tubridy: “She died so suddenly and I am still asking why. So hold on tight, that’s what we’ve got to do.

“Family is just so, so important and I wish that I had just one more second with my sister Kathleen. That would be all I would ask. Just to look at her for one second and that she would look back at me.”

Margo joins her brother Daniel in the Irish Country Hall of Fame, as well as Queen of Country Philomena Begley.

Margo celebrated her achievement by singing a song she has made her own: Coat of Many Colours.
