Saturday was a proud day for the Killybegs Coast Guard station as two members have been promoted to the role of lifeboat coxswains.
Following rigorous training and assessment, Conor O’Donoghue and Amay Conneely earned the title of Designated Boat Coxswain of the Killybegs Coast Guard RHIB.
Amay has been congratulated as the first female coxswain in the history of the Killybegs Coast Guard Station.
“Many years of hard work, a lot of training and countless courses have all paid of and we could not be happier for you two. We salute you,” said a spokesperson for the station.
“Conor and Amay joined the same day with the Killybegs Coast Guard team here and it’s only fitting they crossed this milestone together.
“Today’s assessment was conducted by our Operations & Training Officer Marine management Jason Connery and we thank him for his time, patience and valuable feedback.”
