Catriona Doherty tries out the latest launches that are kind to the planet and affordable.
Eco- and wallet-friendly VeganTan has launched into Penneys stores nationwide with four products.
Three are new – the Bronze Stick, Body Lotion, Bronzing Drops – and the fourth is the brand’s much-loved Mousse in shades Dark and Ultra Dark. Retailing for €10, each one provides a different self-tanning solution.
A slick of the illuminating Bronzing Stick will add a light shimmer or glow, and it’s particularly pretty when used on the collarbone. The stick offers a quick and faff-free way to tan a small area, such as the ankle for example. Simply dab it onto the skin and buff with a brush.
The Bronzing Drops deliver an instant pop of colour. Add three drops to your regular skincare or tan product for a light glow, six drops for a medium sun-kissed look, and nine drops for a deeper result.
Body Lotion Gradual is applied in the same way as a regular moisturiser, and it develops in six to eight hours.
Tried & Tested: Dark Self Tan Mousse
I have pale freckly skin, so to be on the safe side I only applied an extremely light layer of mousse.
Firstly, I liked that I could see exactly where the tan had been applied – I have learned from experience that clear or white cream-based tanning products are simply not my friend. And secondly, there was no sign of any product transfer onto my bedsheets, which is always a plus.
I was pleased with the extremely natural looking hue which had developed overnight. The end result was lighter than I had expected, but this suited me perfectly as I prefer a natural look for the office.
The best bit
Eco-conscious shoppers will be delighted to know that all products are packaged in bottles made from plastic reclaimed from the ocean. Also, for every item sold, a percentage of the sale goes towards removing plastic from nature.
