Donegal singer Moya Brennan has shared her excitement at her latest album being on the first-round ballot for the 67th Grammy Awards.
‘Voices & Harps IV’ by Moya Brennan and Cormac De Barra is a special project honouring the repertoire of Irish soprano and harpist Mary O’Hara.
The album is in the Best Global Music Album category of the first round voting process of the Grammys, which is open to members of the Recording Academy.
“This album is incredibly special to us, it being a tribute to one and only Mary O’Hara, and we would love to represent the musical women of Ireland at the GRAMMYs,” said Moya on social media.
“If you have a vote, we would greatly appreciate it! Voting is taking place until October 15th.”
In 1999, Moya received her first Grammy with Clannad for the 1997 release, Landmarks, which won Best New Age Album. She has had a total of five nominations in this category over the years.
The Grammys are the most prestigious awards in the music industry. Unlike other awards, it’s solely determined by a panel of experts—performers, songwriters, producers, engineers, instrumentalists, and other creators currently working in the recording industry.
