More than 300 newborns will be getting a warm welcome into the world thanks to a thoughtful donation from the Milford Yarns Crochet Group.
This talented group of crafters created 306 beautiful baby hats to be donated to the Letterkenny Maternity Unit. Using donated wool, they handcrafted little hats of all colours as a gift to families.
Meeting every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm, the Milford Yarns Crochet Group has transformed simple donated wool into a tangible expression of care and community spirit.

Their commitment to service doesn’t end here.
After a refreshing summer break, the group resumed their activities with a new focus: crafting fiddle sleeves for dementia patients. These sleeves provide sensory stimulation and comfort to individuals living with dementia, highlighting the group’s versatility, inclusion and compassion. They will be donated to the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Our group is not just about crocheting; it’s about making a difference in our community,” said a representative of the Milford Yarns Crochet Group. “We are proud to support our local community and hope to bring a little warmth and joy through our creations.”
The Milford Yarns Crochet Group is a community organisation facilitated by Social prescriber, Lesley Newberry. It is dedicated to bringing people together through the art of crochet. With a focus on charitable projects and community support, the group meets weekly to share skills, foster friendships, and make a positive impact.
