Hygiene Hub, a charity that provides hygiene and personal care products to those who need them, is calling on Donegal people to spread kindness and participate in its #ItsInTheBag appeal this Christmas by donating essential and luxury hygiene products.

The #ItsInTheBag campaign aims to provide at least 2,000 bags filled with essential and luxury items to individuals and families in need this Christmas. To take part in the #ItsInTheBag campaign, supporters can donate new or unused essential and luxury toiletries through Hygiene Hub’s network of Drop Off Points, or by hosting a hygiene drive with colleagues, friends or family, or donate the cost of a bag through the #ItsInTheBag fundraiser.

The Hygiene Hub Donegal branch was established in late 2020. It has 4 drop-off points and aims to provide 300 bags to support 1,600 people through 6 Community Partners this Christmas.

The four drop-off points in Donegal are – Boots Letterkenny in Letterkenny Retail Park, ALDI on Neil T Blaney Rd Letterkenny, ALDI on Ramelton Road in Letterkenny and Britton’s Pharmacy Main St, Donegal Town.

Hygiene Hub, launched in December 2019, has eight hubs across the country and has distributed over 65,000kg to local communities through links with local organisations.

Hygiene Hub aims to alleviate the pressure of hygiene poverty felt by many across the country when financial struggles mean that food, rent and bills are prioritised over hygiene items.

There are three ways supporters can help Hygiene Hub this Christmas:

Hygiene Hub will be collecting donations for its #ItsInTheBag campaign from 11th November until 15th December. Donations will then be sorted and distributed to community partners in time for Christmas.

Announcing the launch of this year’s #ItsInTheBag campaign, Ciára Dalton, co-founder and Head of Partnerships at Hygiene Hub, said: “We know that this time of year can be an especially stressful time, which is why we started this campaign to help make life a little easier for the 15,000 people we are aiming to support this Christmas. Help us provide a heartfelt and practical gift to those who may otherwise go without.”
