Four years ago, Ballybofey woman Aoife Magee was in the throes of cancer treatment and had lost her hair.

This Christmas, after an amazing recovery, she is the star of a national advert showcasing her beautiful dark locks.

Aoife and her sister Karen were selected for a special ad campaign for DID Electrical due to their sisterly bond that they communicate so naturally on-screen.

The Magee sisters never expected to be chosen when they first submitted an audition tape for the campaign, but after being shortlisted and passing an interview stage, they were whisked away to Dublin for a glamorous video shoot.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them, Karen tells Donegal Daily.

“It was just really meaningful for us to be chosen,” says Karen.

Aoife was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Following intensive treatment, she is thankfully in remission.

“It’s amazing the way she has come out of it. We are so blessed,” says Karen.

Karen, a hairdresser, displayed a series of Dyson hair products beautifully in the advert, which tells the story of a wedding morning.

“It was a great opportunity for me professionally too,” Karen said. “It’s something we’ll always have now to look back on.”

DID Electrical’s “For Everything You” campaign is rolling out during the busy Black Friday and Christmas shopping season. As companies compete for attention, advertising agency Javelin created the campaign to showcase moments in time when people have wonderful experiences using the products.
