Kerrykeel businesswoman Aoibheann Walsh may have been fired from BBC’s The Apprentice, but she was a winner in the style stakes.
The Kerrykeel woman was last night given the boot by Lord Alan Sugar in just the second week of the show.
The beauty salon owner was shown the door after contestants were challenged to create a virtual holographic pop star and record a song and music video.
Sugar said he had not “heard much” from her so far.
Walsh was hoping to win a €250,000 investment in her beauty belt idea by the British tycoon.
But instead she was shown the door before TV viewers.
In last night’s episode, the candidates faced the music as they were tasked with creating virtual pop stars. They had to record a single and produce a music video before pitching for brand sponsorship.
At the end of the episode, Lord Sugar said to Walsh in the boardroom: “On balance, Aoibheann, I don’t think in the last two tasks I’ve actually heard much from you or seen you do much. So, I’m sorry to say, Aoibheann, you’re fired.”
In the taxi afterwards, Co Donegal-based Walsh said: “I’m a little disappointed, I felt like I didn’t really get the opportunity to shine.
“I do wish I did speak out a little more and if I did, I probably wouldn’t be sitting here right now.”
Back on the ‘You’re Fired!’ programme on BBC2, Aoibheann was in flying form for her exit interview which began with high fashion praise from panellist Melvin Odoom.
“You had the best outfits I’ve ever seen,” he said.
This won’t be the last we’ve seen of Aoibheann’s business ventures, as she’s still preparing to launch the product for which she was seeking Lord Sugar’s investment.
Aoibheann has created “Sashsó” – a unique patented utility belt specifically for hairdressers, makeup artists, and costume designers on the go. She’s confident in the success of the belt from the get-go, having already identified a gap in the market, secured patents, and developed prototypes.
